Welcome to Tornadoes 101
As a resident of Michigan, you have most likely heard the ominous sound of a tornado siren at one point or another in your life. If you are lucky, you haven't actually seen a tornado or been a victim to its destructive forces.
Tornadoes 101 is a course designed to familiarize students with tornadoes. Learn about the difference between a tornado watch and warning, how a tornado forms, and what the different level ratings for tornadoes actually mean. Students will also learn how to best protect themselves and their families from being injured in a tornado.
Head on down to Topic 1 - Orientation to get started!
The three (3) discussion forums below will be available and used throughout this course. I'll use the News & Announcements Forum to post information for you. You can use the Technical Questions and Problems Forum if you come across any issues in this class - files aren't visible, links aren't working, etc. Finally, use the General Discussion Forum to bring up those "off-topic" conversations you'd like to have with your classmates.
The links below provide you with the basics for this class. The Instructor Contact Information gives you all the details about how to get in touch with me. The Course Syllabus should be one of the first things you look at - you don't need to memorize it, but you should know where it's at and be familiar with the content. The Course Policies give you all the information you'll need to succeed in this class. Check out the How to Succeed as an Online Student and the Is Distance Learning Right for You? articles, too.
